Food for Children International is one of the leading charities fighting to end child hunger primarily in areas affected by natural disasters and war.
We dare to imagine a reality where no child goes to bed hungry. To help create that reality, we are committed to helping families and communities have stable lives and to reducing the need for assistance in the future—all while providing food and help to help those who need it today.
In the United States, we distribute donations of food and other assistance from business and personal donors through our network of grassroots community partners, we provide school support and classroom supplies to students in high-need areas, and we send resources quickly to assist recovery efforts when natural disasters occur.
Internationally, we support child development initiatives that help reduce hunger and malnutrition and which also offer instruction on health and well-being in Asia, Africa, and Central and South America, particularly in war-torn countries and regions.
We invite partnerships because we understand that what we do would not be possible without collaborative teamwork. We strive to connect donors, experts, leaders, partners, volunteers, and communities to raise consciousness about child hunger and to work towards ending child hunger. That’s a mission we can only accomplish together.
Working with our partners, Food for Children International will strive to do the following in the 2022-2023 fiscal year:
Distribute approximately 95 million pounds of food and other important items around the world to benefit more than 12 million people globally.
Help more than seven million children and families in the United States with donations of non-perishable food and essential household items valued at more than $275 million.
Benefit more than 1.5 million children in other countries where we work.
Help 24,000 teachers across 360 U.S. school districts with more than $2.2 million in teaching supplies as well as books valued at more than $2 million to reach over 500,000 students.
Help distribute more than 1.8 million pounds of food and supplies valued at more than $3.6 million to disaster-affected areas in the United States.
At Food for Children International, our promise is to be as effective as possible in our outreach to those in need by being good stewards of the funds entrusted to us. We are audited annually by an external agency, and less than 20% of our resources are used for administrative purposes.
Our values are founded on Christian principles and play a key role in our conduct and interaction with the people we serve, our donors, and our partners.
Uphold dignity: we believe in treating each child and family in the communities where we work with value and worth.
Engage in partnership: we believe collaboration is the best way to end childhood hunger.
Value every donor: we respect our donors’ intentions and resources and engage in responsible stewardship of the resources they entrust to us.
Operate with integrity: we commit to the highest standards of conduct and ethical practice.
